CIV Tech Associates has engineered hydraulic and hydropower infrastructure ranging from a 300 MW ADB-financed run-of-river scheme to a network of 40 mini/micro hydel stations, working within international project management consultancy consortiums on some of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's most significant renewable energy assignments.
CIV Tech Associates
Hydropower and hydraulic structure design demands the integration of hydrology, geotechnical engineering, and civil and mechanical design into a single coherent scheme — dams, weirs, headrace tunnels, penstocks, and powerhouses all have to function together under variable river conditions over decades of operation. CIV Tech Associates has contributed to this work at every scale, from the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project — part of an ADB-financed Project Management Consultant consortium — down to individual mini/micro hydel stations serving off-grid villages in Mardan, Swabi, and Haripur.
Our hydropower portfolio includes feasibility studies delivered in joint venture with international partners from Germany and Canada, detailed design of dams, tunnels, and powerhouses, and construction-phase services including EPC contractor design review, quality assurance, and testing and commissioning supervision — giving clients a single point of technical continuity from concept through to grid connection.
Run-of-river hydropower scheme design
Dam and weir design — gravity, concrete-faced rockfill, and earthfill
Headrace tunnel and penstock design
Powerhouse and switchyard design
Mini/micro hydel station design
Hydraulic structure design — spillways, intakes, and desanders
EPC contractor design review
Testing and commissioning supervision
River flow, head, and site geology are assessed to establish scheme capacity and layout.
Dam, tunnel, and powerhouse configurations are engineered and optimized for cost and constructability.
Tender documentation and contractor evaluation are prepared to support EPC contractor selection.
Design compliance, quality control, and progress are monitored throughout construction.
Hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment is tested and commissioned ahead of grid connection.
For over three decades, CIV Tech Associates has delivered reliable engineering solutions for complex infrastructure projects, combining local expertise, multidisciplinary knowledge, and international experience.
Engr. Faisal Arbab, Chief Executive of CIV Tech Associates, is a professional civil engineer with extensive experience in engineering consultancy, project management and construction.
Since joining CIV Tech Associates in 1998, he has led assignments across hydropower, dams, housing and road projects, with expertise in contract management, procurement, project monitoring, risk assessment and client coordination.
His previous experience with NHA and international construction companies has further strengthened his expertise in highway construction, quality control and infrastructure development
We are part of the Project Management Consultant consortium on the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project, an ADB-financed scheme, alongside multiple mid- and small-scale hydropower assignments across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Yes — we have designed and supervised construction of 40 mini/micro hydel stations ranging from 11 kW to 808 kW under the Access to Clean Energy Investment Program.
Yes. We provide contractor prequalification, evaluation, tender documentation, and design review of EPC contractor submissions.
We have worked on gravity concrete dams, concrete-faced rockfill dams, and gated diversion weirs, sized to the specific hydrology and topography of each site.
Yes — our scope on hydropower assignments typically extends through testing and commissioning of hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment ahead of grid connection.
