The Balakot 300 MW Hydropower Project is the flagship assignment in CIV Tech Associates’ hydropower portfolio: a run-of-river scheme on the Kunhar River comprising a 58 m high concrete gravity dam with a curved axis and 130 m crest length, a 2.2 km reservoir with 3.6 million m³ of gross storage, a 640 m sediment bypass/diversion tunnel, a 9.1 km concrete-lined headrace tunnel, a 122 m surge shaft, and a cavern powerhouse housing three Francis units for a combined 300 MW installed capacity.
As part of a Project Management Consultant (PMC) consortium led by DOLSAR Engineering, CIV Tech Associates holds a 20% share of the assignment, contributing to design review, resettlement action plan implementation, EPC contractor procurement support, detailed design review of the contractor’s design, construction supervision, quality control, and supervision of testing and commissioning of hydromechanical equipment.
Financed under ADB’s Hydropower Development Investment Program, Balakot represents CIV Tech Associates’ largest single hydropower assignment by project value, positioning the firm within an international consortium delivering utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure for the national grid

Conclusion
